Monday News

Hello, St. Mary's, Catholic school parents,

  • We had two extraordinary Masses last week, one for All Saint's Day and one with Bishop Doerfler and three other priests concelebrating.  The bishop asked, "who is Jesus Christ?" to the students.  From Kindergarten to 8th grade, students gave theologically impressive and perfect answers.  It demonstrated a knowledge and familiarity with Jesus which was truly encouraging.  This is the primary measure of success for our school's mission: forming students that they may know, love and serve God in the person of Jesus.  We are not simply a private school with religion added on. The teaching of the Catholic religion and its relation to all academic subjects is the first and necessary part that makes us a Catholic school.
  • Notice about report cards: as in previous years they will go out on Tuesday.  We tried to get them out by Monday, but it is not sufficient time to complete all the grade work coming off quarter testing week.
  • Conferences will be this Thursday and Friday, and thus those days are both half days with pickup at 11am.
  • From the lunch providers "There will be a menu change for this Wednesday, because of today's delivery we are not able to send chicken nuggets on Wednesday as planned. Instead, we will be sending Turkey and/or ham with cheese sub sandwiches. The online menu should update by the end of day today."
  • There will be a school council meeting this Thursday at 5:30pm in the library.  Please RSVP if you are planning on attending to plan ahead on seating.
  • We've got an invite for U.P. Quiz Tournament for our middle schoolers, hosted at Bark River-Harris High School near Escanaba.  Attached is the flyer for interested parents.
  • Picture day makeup is Wednesday the 9th and will be a free color day all day.
  • The 50-50 fundraising continues to amaze with substantial revenue raised for the school.  Thank you, Marsha Mitchell, for coordinating and all those who have helped support the school with volunteer hours!

Have a blessed week!

In Christ,
Tim
