News from Principal Vail

Hello St. Mary's parents,

  • Today we had not only a boiler issue in the school building but also a local power outage in the late morning, but as of this evening both the power and the heat are working properly and tomorrow everything should be functional as well.  The Michigan state rule is that we keep the building above 65 degrees when students are present, and some classrooms were at 58 degrees and dropping just before noon, and naturally the students were more focused on staying warm than learning which is not something we want to have happen.
  • I have some good family news, my wife had our son, John Vail, today at 2pm. Mother and Baby are healthy and in great condition all things considered, thanks be to God!  Thank you too for the outpouring of prayers.
  • We are now into the first week of reading month, and this Wednesday to Friday, March 1-3, there will be the Usborne Book Fair in the Club Room downstairs until 4pm each day and so the ASP program will have to be in the gym until then for pickup.  March 3rd will be the Book Fair Literacy Night, led by Margaret Swedene.  Please see the flyer for further details.
  • The Lunch menu for this Friday, March 3rd, will be Cheese French Bread Pizza instead of fish.
  • Due to scheduling conflicts with last week's meeting, we have moved the School Council to this Thursday, March 2nd, at 5:30pm in the library.
  • Congratulations to Sam Kiekhaefer who officially is the 8th grade regional qualifier for the Spelling Bee, we are proud of him!
  • This following week we will have the Talent show & Potluck on Friday, March 10th.

May God bless you abundantly this week and always,
in Christ,
Tim Vail
